Natalia (Natalie) Bergman is a Registered Psychologist in the province of Alberta and a Certified Play Therapist (CPT) with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy.
Currently, Natalie is pursuing a Doctoral Degree in Counselling Psychology. She holds a Master of Arts Degree in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University in New Brunswick, Canada, and a Master of Science in Psychology (Russia). She is a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA), the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT), the Association for Play Therapy (USA), and the International Centre for Excellence in Emotionally Focused Therapy (ICEEFT).
In the child therapy realm, Natalie is a Registered Play Therapist™ (RPT™) with the Association for Play Therapy (APT) and a Certified Play Therapist (CPT) with the Canadian Association for Play Therapy (CAPT™). She completed Play Therapy training with the Rocky Mountain Play Therapy Institute, and two years of Functional Family Therapy. Natalie has also completed additional training with the League of Extraordinary Adlerian Play Therapists, Learn to Play Therapy Events, and Frank Anderson’s Internal Family Systems Trauma Treatment. She specializes in applying Play Therapy and Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy to help toddlers, children, and preteens thrive, and in helping parents find a new way of understanding their child’s behaviour and a new way of responding to it.
In supporting couples, Natalie uses Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) techniques to balance the emotions between partners. She has completed an Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy® and Core Skills Training in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy® with ICEEFT. She also uses Functional Family Therapy (FFT) and leverages these techniques to address the entire family dynamic, beyond the perspective of the couple’s dynamic, when it is relevant and beneficial.
